The SFSA is the academic student society of the Department of Forest and Wood Sciences, under the AgriSciences Faculty of Stellenbosch University. The society strives to provide educational, social and cultural, but fun, activities to students and staff of the department throughout the year to promote student awareness and involvement in the current issues regarding the forestry and wood product science industry nationally and internationally.

The society provides a welcoming atmosphere to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as an open platform for queries and ideas from all members. The society is affiliated with the International Forestry Students’ Association, as well as the AgriSciences Student Association, giving students the opportunity to still participate in faculty events at the university, but also have a broader view of what is happening in forestry education on an international level.
